Medal (Danish Pharmaceutical Org., Helmer Kofod) - Denmark - 1977

Big heavy gold medal in strong relief. Obverse features a two-handled mortar with a pestle, a branch of laurel leaves in front. Around is the inscription "DANMARKS FARMACEUTISKE SELSKAB 1912 1937". The medal may have been produced already in 1937 at the organization's 25th anniversary. The reverse features a coat-of-arms with a foot, above it a helmet with spiraling horns, and lively decorative scrollwork around. The inscription reads "BENE MERITIS DE SCIENTIA PHARMACEUTICA" (Good Service to Pharmaceutical Science) This exact medal was awarded to Danish chemist Helmer Kofod (1916-2005) by the Danish Pharmaceutical Organization in 1977.
